Alcohol could be a factor in fatal Kentucky collision

According to Lexington police, a head-on traffic accident caused two fatalities and two injuries. The accident reportedly occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 14.

The vehicles involved were both badly damaged due to the force of impact. During the investigation, alcohol containers were found in one of the vehicles, but it is unclear if the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. At the time of the report, authorities were planning to order toxicology tests. The driver and a passenger in the vehicle that contained the alcohol containers died as a result of the crash. Two other individuals, a third passenger in the vehicle with the alcohol containers and the driver of the other car, were injured in the crash. The extent of their injuries was unknown.

Police conducted an accident recreation but indicated that the specific events that led to the collision were still not clear. Since all of the factors that led up to the incident were not known, it is probable that police may also speak with any witnesses who were present at the time of the crash.

In a case like this, a personal injury attorney might look at the details of the collision and use a completed police report to determine if a wrongful death claim can be brought against the at-fault driver. Toxicology results could play a major role in how the accident happened and could indicate that the individuals who were killed were victims of a driver's negligence. Anyone who has been injured in such a car accident may wish to to hire a a personal injury attorney to assist in building a case to receive financial compensation to aid in their recovery.
