Kentucky woman dies in tragic highway vehicle accident

November 9, 2017

Most drivers understand that the actions they take while operating their motor vehicles can impact how others on the road react and choose to maneuver their own vehicles. For example, when a driver is reckless and makes rash decisions, it can be difficult for others to safely and correctly anticipate how to avoid them. Very recently, a dangerous situation occurred on a Kentucky highway and, due to the careless and irresponsible actions of a driver, an innocent individual has lost their life.

The incident happened on US 60 near the Crittenden-Livingston county line. A woman driving west attempted to pass a truck that was pulling a trailer. While attempting to make the pass, the woman had to swerve her vehicle in order to avoid an oncoming car. When she swerved, the driver of the truck had to brake and, as a result, his truck and trailer jackknifed. The passing driver ended up colliding with a car traveling in the eastbound direction and that driver, a 27-year-old woman, was killed.

The victim in this story died at the scene of the accident and the driver whose horrendous conduct caused the tragedy was taken to a hospital with injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt in the crash, nor were two youths who had been traveling with the reckless driver.

When a person’s conduct results in injuries to another person, the victim can sue to collect their incident-related losses. When a person dies due to another person’s recklessness or negligence, their loved ones can often pursue their losses through wrongful death claims. Depending upon additional factors not discussed herein, the relatives of the deceased victim may choose to seek compensation for the loss of their loved one through litigation against the responsible driver.
