Gary C. Johnson

Partner | Kentucky Personal Injury Attorney
Kentucky personal injury lawyer

Gary C. Johnson is one of Kentucky’s most accomplished and respected personal injury trial lawyers, with more than 40 years of experience representing individuals and families affected by catastrophic injuries and wrongful death.

He is the founder of Gary C. Johnson, P.S.C., a statewide personal injury firm with offices in Pikeville, Lexington, Louisville, and Hazard, serving clients throughout Kentucky and surrounding states.

Mr. Johnson concentrates his practice on high‑value, complex personal injury litigation, including medical malpractice and birth injury cases, product liability and defective medical devices, gas explosions, commercial truck and vehicle accidents, defective mining and construction equipment, and multi‑district litigation involving dangerous drugs and products.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Johnson has secured numerous multimillion‑dollar jury verdicts and settlements on behalf of injured clients, including the largest personal injury jury verdict ever awarded in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

He has tried cases before juries in Kentucky, Georgia, and West Virginia and is widely known for his courtroom skill, meticulous preparation, and unwavering advocacy.

Mr. Johnson’s work has earned him consistent recognition at the highest levels of the legal profession.

He has been named a Kentucky Super Lawyer every year since the distinction was established, is listed in the Martindale‑Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and received the Peter Perlman Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Kentucky Justice Association in recognition of his trial excellence and mentorship of young lawyers.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Johnson is a respected author and educator. He is the author of Winning the Unwinnable Case: Key Techniques for Every Trial and a contributing author to Reptile: The 2009 Manual of the Plaintiff’s Revolution, a leading resource on modern jury persuasion and trial strategy.

He frequently presents seminars across the United States and has dedicated significant time to mentoring trial lawyers throughout his career.

Despite his national reputation, Mr. Johnson remains deeply involved in the day‑to‑day practice of law and is committed to personally representing clients facing life‑changing injuries. He also hosts the podcast “Simply the Law of Life,” where he shares insights focused on personal growth, happiness, and quality of life.
